Former Dunlap supply store destroyed in early morning fire Sunday

Dunlap Fire Department responded to a fire on Rankin Avenue around 1:45 Sunday morning.

Officials say the business was being used as an automobile repair but was formerly operated as Smith’s Home Center and Building Supply.

Dunlap police arrived first to find the structure fully involved with the roof already collapsed and several cars on fire.

Crews protected the building next to the fire, which was Heartland Realty.

There were no injures reported

Dunlap Fire responded with 2 engines, a ladder truck and Rescue 1 and Rescue 2 and approximately 15 firefighters.

Pikeville Fire Department assisted with an engine company.

Sequatchie county EMA along with Puckett ambulance also assisted.

US Highway was closed and traffic rerouted by Dunlap Police and Sequatchie County Sheriff deputies.

The cause is under investigation by Dunlap Police n Fire and the Tennessee Fire Marshall’s office .
