Former Dalton Christian counselor pleads not guilty to sexual assault charges Monday

A former Christian counselor in Dalton indicted by a grand jury on four counts of sexual assault pleaded not guilty in a Whitfield County courtroom Monday morning.

Daniel Staats is charged with inappropriate contact with a patient. And he's accused by almost a dozen other patients of inappropriate behavior.

Staats was arrested after allegations of inappropriate and illegal conduct with women who were in his care for court ordered psychotherapy counseling as part of their probation.

Staats appeared in Whitfield County court Monday morning and pleaded not guilty.

Staats will appear for a hearing on April 26th and his trial is set for May 7th.
