First day of school brings new school year jitters for students and parents
Coming off a few months of summer vacation, some students are feeling a bit anxious returning to the books.
Thursday was Hamilton County's first day of school for the 2017-2018 academic year. Seniors at Red Bank High School felt it.
"It feels like just yesterday I was walking into this building as a freshman," said senior Jeremiah Welch.
Senior Grace Brown can relate.
"I get nervous at first," she said. "You have to get used to everything."
First day of school jitters come from every direction. Cindy Capeheart has a daughter who just started the third grade.
"Oh yeah, I was nervous," she said. " I was hoping she was okay, and her teachers are okay"
When it comes to teachers and schools, these students say they feel comfortable where they are.
"I like the vibe Red Bank has," said Brown. Welch agreed. "Our school is great. We are a very diverse school."
Students say the nerves calm down as the school year goes on, and Capeheart says that's something parents can help.
"Just tell them about all the fun things, you know recess, new friends, great teachers, and fun things to do and learn."
