A couple in Chattanooga is looking for a new place to live Thursday after fire caused serious damage to their home Wednesday night.

The Chattanooga Fire Department (CFD) says the fire happened a little before midnight at a home on the 5500 block of Weigelia Drive in the Washington Hills community.

The CFD says the first arriving fire company encountered heavy smoke and flames in the kitchen and attic space of the structure.

Crews from Quint 6, Quint 7, Squad 7, Quint 8, Engine 15, and Squad 19 brought the fire under control in about 15 minutes.

Everyone inside the home had escaped before firefighters arrived, and no one was hurt.

Investigators have ruled the fire's cause as accidental, and the fire caused $50,000 in damages.
