Fire destroys house in Hixson

HIXSON, Tenn. — Authorities say fire destroyed a home in Hixson late Wednesday night.

Hamilton County EMS spokeswoman Amy Maxwell says just before midnight, a neighbor called 911 to report a fire at 1755 Varner Street in Hixson.

Maxwell says Dallas Bay Volunteer Fire Department firefighters responded and arrived on the scene reporting heavy fire throughout the entire house.

Firefighters conducted a defensive attack to contain the fire to the house.

The homeowner, Richard Roberson, was not home at the time of the fire.

No one was hurt.

There's still no word on what caused the fire, but the investigation continues.
