Identities released in deadly I-24 crash

UPDATE: We're learning more about the deadly crash on I-24 that shut down the interstate for several hours Friday.

The Tennessee Highway Patrol says Tommy Rogers of Mount Juliet, Tennessee was driving down I-24 when going around a curve when the car lost control and flipped into oncoming traffic.

That's when THP says Rogers car was hit by a car driven by Janakjiev Igor of Renton, Washington. Igor wasn't hurt.

THP says Rogers wasn't wearing a seat belt and was thrown from the car.

Harmon tells NewsChannel 9 that the accident involving a commercial vehicle and another smaller vehicle happened just before Nickajack Lake.

The Tennessee Department of Transportation (TDOT) is diverting westbound traffic onto Highway 41 at exit 174.

They are also rerouting eastbound traffic at mile marker 161.

Authorities from Dade County are assisting by stopping I-59 traffic from merging onto I-24 W.
