Man killed in motorcycle accident on I-24 Saturday
The Chattanooga Police Department has released more information on a fatal traffic accident Saturday.
The crash happened on Saturday, November 16, 2019 just after 4:30 p.m. at 18400 Interstate 24 eastbound and involved a motorcycle. The CPD Traffic Unit responded to the scene. The following was determined through interview, investigation and observation with CPD officials.
An individual driving a Suzuki motorcycle was traveling near mile marker 184 at a high rate of speed when the driver struck the rear of an International semi-truck.
The motorcyclist separated from the motorcycle and was pronounced dead on the scene by Hamilton County EMS. The driver was a 30-year-old man.
CPD says his name will be released once family notifications are complete.
The driver of the semi-truck was unaware the vehicle he was driving was struck, did not stop, but was located and stopped soon after the collision occurred.
A third vehicle, a Nissan Rogue, was struck by debris from the crash.
No injuries reported by drivers of the semi-truck, nor the driver or passenger in the Nissan Rogue.
