Chattanooga firefighters say a family is safe after a fire broke out at their home Friday night.

It happened on the 7000 block of Hamilton View Street.

The first of Chattanooga Fire Department's companies arriving on scene found a heavy fire at the home. They pulled a hose line and got to work attacking the blaze.

Crews learned that the family -- two adults and five children -- were already out of the burning home.

A total of seven fire companies responded to the scene, and had the fire under control in 20 minutes, according to CFD spokeswoman Lindsey Rogers.

Rogers says the home was heavily damaged, but thankfully no one was injured.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.

Chattanooga Hamilton County Rescue Service is providing assistance, along with Hamilton County EMS, Red Cross and the Chattanooga Police Department.

This is a developing story and will be updated as we learn more.
