THP: Person found dead inside car submerged in water in Polk County

UPDATE (December 3rd):

The Tennessee Highway Patrol has identified the victim as 37-year-old Amber Talley of Chattanooga.

UPDATE (Sunday afternoon):

Tennessee Highway Patrol says one person was found dead inside the vehicle.

This is an active investigation. The THP says they will not release any more information until the victim's family is notified.

UPDATE (11:40 a.m.):

Fire Chief Keith Jeske with the West Polk County Fire and Rescue says there is a car in the water off Highway 64 near mile marker 8.

He tells our crew on the scene divers are about to go in the water and look at the vehicle.

That they are securing the car to the vessel that pulls it out of the water and will then pull out the car.

Eryn Cooper tells us there are several fire engines are there, park rangers, and Polk County Sheriff cars.


Polk County Dispatch confirms crews are working to recover a car submerged in the water off Highway 64 near mile marker 8 Sunday.

Dispatch could not confirm if there was anyone inside the car.

There is limited information at this time.
