Dalton woman pleads guilty to murdering father
A Dalton woman has been sentenced to life in prison for killing her father.
Hannah Henderson pleaded guilty to felony murder on Tuesday.
We told you about this case back in October 2018. According to her arrest report, Henderson called 911 and told a dispatcher she'd shot her father, George Henderson.
Whitfield County deputies found the 50-year-old man dead, shot twice in the head.
Detectives say the two got into a fight after she accused him of molesting her child. District Attorney Bert Poston says that as she entered the guilty plea today, Hannah Henderson admitted the judge that the claim "was a lie then and it is a lie now." Poston says she expressed remorse for what she'd done, and said her father never did anything like that or anything at all to deserve what she did to him.
During the sentencing, Poston says Henderson didn't explain the shooting, but said she was an addict and not a monster.
Henderson will have to serve 30 years from the date of her arrest on October 14, 2018 before becoming eligible for parole.
Poston says Henderson waived her parental rights, as well as any right to inherit her father's estate. Her son will be adopted by a family member.
