It's time to start warming up your vocal chords, American Idol is back.

The 16th season of the reality TV show will air on ABC in the fall.

On August 22, Atlanta will host the auditions for the revival of the series.

One machine fabricator from Dalton is hoping to make it through the auditions with a golden ticket to stardom.

Austin Zackary auditioned for the show in 2011 but didn't make it through to the next round.

His mother, LaDonna, said that was just a minor setback for Zackary, "he said it just wasn't meant to be."

Instead of sulking, Zackary learned from the experience.

"I got to see and get a feel for how the music industry would really be like," Zackary said.

That audition also helped him overcome his stage fright.

"I mean you had to sing in front of thousands of people and there was some really good singers up there," Zackary said.

He's taking what he learned to this year's auditions.

"This is a way for me to actually keep chasing my dream and hopefully make it and hopefully live my dream that I'm wanting to do," Zackary told NewsChannel 9.
