Dalewood Middle student charged after incident with SRO
The Hamilton County Sheriff's Office (HCSO) says a juvenile is now facing four charges of simple assault, a charge of resisting arrest, and a charge of disorderly conduct following an incident at Dalewood Middle School on Monday.
According to the HCSO, school administrators requested help from the SRO with a "disorderly juvenile student."
Sheriff's office spokesman Matt Lea says the student become physically violent with school personnel and the SRO stepped in. According to Lea, the SRO requested backup from the Chattanooga Police Department.
The HCSO says the student complained of an injury after being detained, and an ambulance was called.
The student was transported to the hospital, treated, and released, then processed at the juvenile detention unit.
Lea says the SRO was also treated at a hospital for minor injuries and was later released.
The sheriff's office says it cannot release any more information regarding the incident since a juvenile is involved.
