Convicted child predator sought by Rossville Police

Nathaniel Kenneth Hartwell was allowed to remain on bond and agreed to surrender himself to the Catoosa County Jail on September 23rd. But police say he didn't show up at the appointed time.

Police in Rossville, Georgia need your help finding a man who was convicted of possessing child pornography who didn't show up to serve jail time.

Detective Captain David L. Scroggins of the Rossville Police Department says officers arrested Nathaniel Kenneth Berton-Hartwell in January of 2013 after he traveled from Red Bank to Georgia to try to have sex with a child.

An investigation revealed Hartwell owned thousands of images of child pornography.

Back on September 19th, Hartwell pleaded guilty in Catoosa County Superior Court.

Detective Captain Scroggins says he was sentenced to serve a period of time in the Georgia Diversion Center, followed by 15 years probation under sex offender conditions and fines.

Scroggins says he was allowed to remain on bond and agreed to surrender himself to the Catoosa County Jail on September 23rd.

But Detective Captain Scroggins says he didn't show up at the appointed time.

Police now have issued warrants for escape, probation violation and child exploitation. Detective Scroggins says once caught, this could mean he'll serve a full 15 years in prison, rather than on probation.

Hartwell is 5' 9" tall, weighs 170 pounds, has black hair and brown eyes.
