NewsChannel 9's Josh Roe, Kayla Strayer, Aaron Farrar, and Brittany Martin reported from Dalton as Vice President Pence rallied for Georgia gubernatorial candidate Brian Kemp in Dalton Thursday.

Pence's message to voters was less about changing their minds in the mid term elections and more about getting their base out to the polls on Election Day.

The vice president worked to energize supporters, and that's what happened Thursday. The crowd cheered at nearly every mention of Trump, Pence, and their agenda.

Planned protests outside the Pence rally did not turn out as expected, however.

As Pence rallied for Kemp Thursday, Democratic candidate for governor Stacey Abrams had Oprah on her side. See the full event here.

President Trump will travel to UTC's McKenzie Arena on Sunday to campaign for Tennessee candidate for US Senate Marsha Blackburn. Depend on us to keep you posted and have full coverage of the president's Chattanooga visit.

The last day to vote early in Georgia is Friday, November 2nd. Election Day is November 6th.

Vice President Mike Pence pays Dalton a visit on Thursday, making a campaign appearance for Georgia gubernatorial candidate Brian Kemp. It's the second time in four months that Pence has visited the Chattanooga area, and marks the first time a sitting U.S. Vice President has visited the Chattanooga area twice in one year. (Back in July, Pence visited Chattanooga and Cleveland).

The event began at 11:30 a.m at the Dalton Convention Center.

Pence arrived at Chattanooga's Metropolitan Airport on Air Force Two about an hour before that. From there, his motorcade traveled south on I-75 to Dalton. Drivers should be aware that there could be closures and/or delays on the interstate for the duration of the motorcade, going from and going back to Chattanooga's airport.

NewsChannel 9 has team coverage of this event. We have a crew at Chattanoga's airport and the Dalton Convention Center. (Also: we will have extensive coverage of President Trump's campaign visit to McKenzie Arena in Chattanooga this coming Sunday).
