Former coach: Tyner sophomore dies after non-school-related basketball game

A high school sophomore has died after a non-school-related basketball game, according to former Tyner boys' basketball coach Keitha Booker.

Booker says the student was playing a game at the Boys & Girls Club Wednesday.

Booker says that after the game, the sophomore passed out. Booker says the student was taken to a Parkridge Medical Center, where they passed away.

Booker says the student didn't seem unhealthy before the game.

Keitha Booker was the Tyner Academy boys' basketball coach last year, and currently serves as the assistant principal at The Howard School.

E'Jay Ward is the current boy's basketball coach at Tyner.
