City officials tell Soddy-Daisy Police Department to take down its Facebook page
Soddy-Daisy city officials have ruled their police department is no longer allowed to have its own Facebook page.
In the final post to the page, Police Chief Jeff Gann wrote a goodbye, saying the information users provided "saved lives."
Chief Gann says several warrants were served, suicidal people were helped, and more through the line of communication.
Mayor Gene Shipley says the decision to take the page down was "pretty easy."
That's because all departments in the City of Soddy-Daisy will soon operate on the same social media page.
"We're going to make it right. We're going to have a Facebook and it will be better," said Mayor Shipley.
He went on to say that Police Chief Gann didn't go anything wrong.
That said, Mayor Shipley says he hasn't talked to the police chief directly about the Facebook page.
Mayor Shipley says it will take a few weeks before the new page gets up and running.
In the meantime, residents are encouraged to call or email police with their concerns.
On Thursday, Chief Gann said he did not have any comment on the matter.
