Chattanooga police talk man off top of Walnut Street bridge Tuesday evening
Chattanooga police have talked down a man they say climbed up on top of the Walnut Street Bridge Tuesday evening.
First responders were able to talk the man into climbing down from the bridge.
A viewer sent us a photo from the scene. We have cropped the man out of the photo out of respect for that man and this situation.
The bridge was reopened not long after the man came down safely.
Chattanooga police spokesman Rob Simmons says the man was "despondent," and will go for mental evaluation.
