Chattanooga PD: Officer injured after shooting, killing dog
Chattanooga Police say an internal investigation is underway after one of their officers was injured while responding to a complaint of an aggressive dog.
It happened around 5 p.m. Saturday on the 2600 block of Glass Street.
According to police spokesperson Elisa Myzal, witnesses told police an aggressive dog had tried to attack a small child.
Myzal says the dispatched officer couldn't find the owner, and the dog tried to attack him.
At that point, Myzal says the officer shot the dog, and the bullet went through the dog, killing it - and hit the officer in the foot.
The officer was taken to the hospital. Police say he is expected to be okay.
