Update: Virginia man charged after police say he kidnapped wife, daughter

The Georgia State Patrol (GSP) has identified the kidnapping suspect as 36-year-old Brandon Deel of Davenport, Virginia.

Authorities say after his arrest, investigators learned the two women with Deel were his wife and daughter.

The GSP says Deel was armed with two pistols, and had carjacked a vehicle in Virginia.

The GSP is in contact with law enforcement in Washington County, Virginia.

Deel faces these charges:

  • Kidnapping
  • Theft of bringing stolen property into the state
  • Fleeing or attempting to elude
  • Impeding the flow of traffic
  • Obstruction
  • Possession of firearm during a felony
  • Reckless conduct
  • Failure to maintain lane
  • Cruelty to children

Chattanooga Police say two women are now safe after a kidnapping led to a police chase Wednesday night.

Police say officers saw the suspect's vehicle, who then took off on I-75 southbound into Georgia.

CPD spokesperson Elisa Myzal says officers were able to stop the vehicle in Tunnel Hill, and the suspect was taken into custody.

CPD says the two females who were kidnapped are uninjured, and were taken to a safe place by Georgia law enforcement officers.

The suspect is being booked by Georgia State Patrol.

CPD says they will take out warrants for the suspect, who will then face additional charges.
