Someone spray-painted swastikas and caused hundreds of dollars in water damage to a Chattanooga nonprofit some time Thursday night.

Executive Director Jay Mace of the Midtown Community Center tells us staff were 'shocked' to discover Friday morning that their building on North Tuxedo Avenue was broken into overnight.

The vandals also turned on a water hose and let it run all night, which Mace says will cost the center hundreds of dollars on their water bill.

To make matters worse, the center was in the middle of a renovation project that now has to be started from scratch.

“It’s very frustrating for sure” Mace told us.

Mace says the center had just hosted a City Of Chattanooga luncheon Thursday for Mayor Jim Kelly’s Community Action Committee and City leaders to tour the new community and brainstorm on the topics of their efforts meeting together over the past 2 months.

Midtown Community Center (MCC) is a youth and adult development center with educational programs in the areas of health, financial literacy, career opportunities, and personal responsibility.
