"I forgive him": Chattanooga woman permanently blinded by former boyfriend offers grace

A father charged with blinding the mother of his child by hand - in front of their child - appeared in court Thursday afternoon, pleading not guilty by reason of insanity. The state accepted that plea.

Michael Roberson was charged in the September, 2017 attack, which left the woman, Tinesia Davenport, permanently blinded. Roberson is also accused of stabbing her in the stomach.

Davenport testified in Thursday's hearing that she forgives Roberson, saying "I forgive him for what he did to our family and what he did to me. I don’t consider myself a victim -- I consider myself victorious. I'm still standing here. I hope he [Roberson] gets the help he needs.”
