The Chattanooga Fire Department responded to a grass fire just before 7 p.m. on Sunday night.

The fire happened near the 1000 block of 12th Street.

When fire crews arrived they found several City of Chattanooga garbage trucks on fire. Ten trucks were parked side by side under a metal roof inside of a fenced off area.

The fire was brought under control in less than 20 minutes.

Then, crews worked to contain fuel and oil runoff from the garbage trucks.

The Chattanooga Fire Department says five trucks were damaged, with an estimated $90,000 in damage.

CFD says one garbage truck costs approximately $350,000 to replace, but two trucks were driven away.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
