Fire destroys sawmill in Lookout Valley
Chattanooga firefighters responded to a fire at a sawmill on 3510 Pan Gap Circle.
Firefighters reported seeing smoke from downtown Chattanooga on their way to the fire.
The building was engulfed in flames and collapsed before they arrived on the scene.
Firefighters say the sawmill was in a secluded area, and that it had gone unnoticed for a while.
Only a few fire trucks could reach the building, because there was a narrow, gravel road on the way.
The owner of the building, Rick Lowery, said that the building was used as a sawmill and a maintenance shop.
Two cars were destroyed along with equipment and tools.
No one was hurt.
Damages are estimated to be $185,000 dollars.
