CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. — Chattanooga firefighters and their families gathered at The Westin Chattanooga Monday night to honor their own.
With Chief Operating Officer Maura Sullivan and Fire Chief Phil Hyman presiding, more than 100 firefighters were recognized for outstanding efforts at emergencies throughout the year in 2018.
Captain Randy Steele received the Medal of Valor and Firefighter George Johnson received the Medal of Heroism award.
Firefighters Ramsey Kimbrough, Jordan Middlebrooks and Scott Paone received the Rookie of the Year award.
Firefighter Engineer Preston Binegar received the Firefighter of the Year award.
Captain Randy Steele received the Officer of the Year award.
Dozens of firefighters were also recognized with unit citations and commendation ribbons for their outstanding efforts in 2018.
