Chattanooga firefighters say a tip from children alerted them to a large scrapyard fire Friday afternoon.

The fire department says it happened just before 4 p.m. at an old scrapyard on Taylor Street.

Captain David Brooks says the kids came to him at Station 4 at the corner of Curtis and Dodson Avenue, saying a big fire was happening a few blocks away.

Station 4 firefighters and six additional fire companies arrived to put out the fire. Police and EMS also provided support.

The fire department says no one was injured, and the cause of the fire is under investigation.
