The Murray County Sheriff's Office (MCSO) responded to a car crash and fire at Ballground Road and McEntire Road in Murray County Monday afternoon.
MCSO says one vehicle caught fire and became fully engulfed in the crash.
Several people were injured in the crash, but we do not yet know how many people were injured or the extent of the injuries.
LifeForce helicopters were called in to airlift the injured people to a local hospital.
On Tuesday, the Georgia State Patrol identified the driver as 26-year-old David Brown of Chatsworth and the passenger as 28-year-old Brittany Kendrick, also of Chatsworth.
The GSP says Brown was flown by Lifeforce to a local hospital with severe chest injuries, and that Kendrick was also flown with serious burns to the lower half of her body.
The GSP confirmed with NewsChannel 9 that Brittany Kendrick later died Tuesday due to her injuries.
GSP investigators say drug use is suspected in the crash, and that Brown was driving too fast for conditions. Charges against Brown are pending the outcome of the investigation.
