Car, carport destroyed in Soddy-Daisy fire Friday afternoon

A Soddy-Daisy man has lost his only car to a fire that threatened part of his home as well, Hamilton County Emergency Management Agency (HCEMA) officials said Friday.

The 911 call came in at 3:20 p.m. that a car was on fire at a home on Jenkins Circle in Soddy-Daisy.

The Sequoyah Volunteer Fire Department and Dallas Bay VFD responded to find a fully involved fire to the car and carport.

Our NewsChannel 9 team was on scene as crews fire teams responded.

HCEMA spokesperson Amy Maxwell says firefighters worked quickly to get the fire under control and prevent further heat damage to the home.

Maxwell says no injuries were reported. Hamilton County EMS was on scene in case of injuries to first responders.

Investigators haven't determined the cause of the fire, which the Hamilton County Sheriff's Office is looking into.

Damages are reported at $15,000.
