'Bold,' 'crazy,' 'scary' - just some of the words people have used to describe surveillance video of a man stealing from a woman in plain sight.
Store clerks at Kanku's on McCallie Avenur pointed to several cameras in there store, commenting that those didn't deter the man who lunged forward to steal a woman's iPhone.
In the video, the woman doesn't appear to notice the man behind her, reaching into her pocket.
"That’s terrifying," UTC student and Kanku regular Wade Craig said as he watched the clip for the first time.
He adds, "That's literally stealing something out of someone’s pocket. That’s wild."
Wade's reaction echoed the comments of many people shopping at Kanku's today, including Jasmine Holt.
She said she saw the video on Facebook earlier today, saying, "I’m glad that I keep my phone in my front pocket."
Jasmine touched on one of the tips Forbes mentions to help people avoid falling victim to pickpocket thieves.
They say stay aware of your surroundings and store valuables where they're visible to the owner but not the public.
They also caution people to avoid storing valuables in heavy jackets.
If you know this man or where he is, please call Chattanooga PD at (423) 698-2525.
