Bradley Co. Sheriff: Homeowner finds man's body in closet after burglary
The Bradley County Sheriff's Office (BCSO) is investigating after they say a man was found dead in a home he was accused of burglarizing.
The sheriff's office says on Friday, Nov. 29, they responded to a home on Ramsey Bridge Road after a homeowner reported finding a man's body.
The homeowner told officers they had found the body in a closet of a rarely-used spare bedroom, according to BCSO spokesperson Taylor Woodruff.
Woodruff says based on evidence at the scene, the man's death appears to have been the result of suicide, and related to a burglary at the home. Detectives confirmed that the man's body had been in the home since Wednesday. The sheriff's office says more information on this portion of the case is pending further investigation and autopsy report.
The sheriff's office says during the investigation, detectives identified another suspect in the burglary - a woman named Sarah Clowers.
According to the BCSO, Clowers is believed to have been in the home with the man when the homeowner returned, at which point investigators say Clowers left without being found. Investigators say the man "did not make an effort to exit the residence."
Clowers was arrested on December 2 on warrants for aggravated burglary and theft under $1,000.
The sheriff's office is continuing to work with the District Attorney's Office and waiting for the official autopsy results in this investigation.
This is a developing story and will be updated as we learn more.
