Beating the heat this Independence Day

Heat indexes hovered in the triple digits today. Despite the warm weather, people kicked off the fourth of July holiday at the Chickamauga Dam and the Riverfront Parkway.

One man we spoke with says grilling is a fourth of July tradition. Charles Dupree, says "I've been doing this for 20 years" remarking that the heat won't deter him from sticking to his annual plans.

Other people were more inclined to find a spot in the shade or indoors.

Parents say the Creative Discovery Museum is all about family fun. They say it is a good alternative to celebrate Independence Day away from the heat.
