Chattanooga PD identifies man killed in motorcycle accident on Hixson Pike Tuesday morning

UPDATE:

Chattanooga Police identified the victim as 55-year-old Thomas Allison. The driver of the SUV that struck him is 86-year-old James Webb.

Investigators say Webb was in the center turn lane and made a left turn with the intention of turning into Karl's Restaurant. But he did so right in front of Allison's motorcycle, causing him to crash. Webb told investigators he never saw Allison before the crash.

PREVIOUSLY:

Some lanes remain closed at the 5100 block Tuesday morning while Chattanooga Police investigate a deadly motorcycle accident. As of 10 a.m., one lane is open in both directions.

The off-ramp from northbound Highway 153 to Hixson Pike is also closed.

Police tell our crew on the scene that at about 6 a.m., the driver of an SUV was making a turn and did not see the motorcyclist, and struck him.
