A 78-year-old Hixson man faces assault charges after deputies say he attacked them while they were in his home.

The Hamilton County Sheriff's Office was called to the home on a disorder call around 4:27 a.m. Sunday morning.

According to the arrest affidavit, Charles Koory told deputies he'd called them because his wife kept getting into his bed, and he wanted them to move her to another room. Deputies say the woman appeared to be having a hard time getting into the bed.

The report says that after deputies tried to explain that 911 is for emergency situations, Koory told them he would call 911 again if they left without making his wife go to another bed.

At this point, the report says Koory threw his wife off onto the floor, and said, "Now call her an ambulance to get her out of the floor."

When deputies made to arrest him, the report says Koory attacked, swinging his fists and hitting a deputy in the upper torso and neck. The deputies swung back, trying to keep him from attacking further.

The report says that deputies learned that Koory's wife had been treated as a fall victim at a hospital earlier Sunday, and she was becoming semi-conscious. Medical personal were called to transport her for evaluation and treatment.

Charles Gentry Koory was arrested and charged with domestic assault, aggravated assault on police, resisting arrest or obstruction of legal process, and a 911 violation (improper use).

He was taken to Hamilton County Jail, and placed on $4,000 bond.
