61-year-old faces abuse of a corpse charge after human remains found in Coffee County
A 61-year-old woman has been charged following the discovery of human remains in Coffee County on Tuesday.
Connie Ray, 61, is behind bars on charges of abuse of a corpse, tampering with evidence, false reporting and accessory after the fact.
According to Manchester Police, the human remains were found at Beechgrove in the Cole Ridge Rd. area Tuesday night. Ray was taken into custody at 6:45 p.m. Tuesday.
Authorities are still investigating the human remains found and could not immediately release if the remains are male or female. The Medical Examiner's Office is working to identify the remains.
The Tennessee Bureau of Investigation and Manchester Police are the main investigating agencies.
Ray's court date is set for August 6.
