2-month-old infant injured, GBI files charges against Murray County father
A 2-month old infant is recovering at a Chattanooga hospital, and the Georgia Bureau of Investigation (GBI) is charging its 22-year-old Chatsworth father with one count of cruelty to children in the first degree.
The GBI says on Monday, the Murray County Sheriff's Office (MCSO) arrested and charged Joel Maggi.
That arrest came after a child was rushed to Children's Hospital at Erlanger in Chattanooga. The child was unresponsive, and had suffered "unexplained life-threatening injuries."
Murray County authorities say Maggi was arrested in Hamilton County Monday. He'll have an extradition hearing Tuesday afternoon.
The GBI says it will work with the MCSO to continue its joint investigation, and turn it over to the Murray County District Attorney's office once that is finished.
This is a developing story. Depend on us to keep you posted.
