1 person killed in crash with semi-truck on I-24 W near TN-GA line Friday
One person is dead after a crash on Interstate 24 westbound Friday afternoon, according to the Dade County Sheriff's Office.
Deupties say preliminary reports suggest the driver of the pickup truck was headed East on I-24, crossed the median, and hit the tractor trailer head on.
The driver of the pickup truck was found dead on scene.
The driver's name has not been released.
Sheriff Ray Cross had a message of thanks to responding agencies, even some from Tennessee.
"TDOT workers are the kind of people that don't care about a state line, when it comes to saving lives," Sheriff Cross said.
Dade County Sheriff's Office spokesman Chad Payne says the crash involved a pickup and a tractor trailer.
It happened near the Highway 299 overpass.
The Georgia State Patrol is investigating.

Georgia State Patrol says all lanes of traffic on I-24 westbound near the TN/GA line have been opened.
Traffic is slowly beginning to move again, but expect delays as congestion clears.
TDOT says the crash was reported around 2:49 pm ET and as of about 4:15pm, westbound traffic is being diverted at Exit 174.
Georgia State Patrol is working at the scene.
