BOTTOM LINE: Democrats should stop wasting their efforts on unwarranted impeachment
Some Democrats in Congress are, mistakenly, calling to start impeachment proceedings against President Trump.
That is an unsubstantiated, misleading tactic which undermines our very democracy and is completely and totally unwarranted. The majority of Congress actually knows this. Impeachment resolutions proposed by Congressman Al Green of Texas have been met with overwhelming failure on multiple occasions.
So why continue to talk about it? Even though the result of the Mueller report is vindication for President Trump? It all boils down to a trend we’re seeing in the Democratic Party’s playbook: If you cannot win, take your ball, go home and blame the referee.
We saw it in the 2018 gubernatorial election in the state of Georgia where Democratic candidate Stacey Abrams lost by over 50,000 votes but still refuses to accept defeat.
And we see it every single day on cable TV networks and on Twitter feeds of those who bet on Hillary Clinton to win in 2016 and cannot take the fact that President Trump beat her fair and square.
Here’s the bottom line: Democrats—you have a majority in the House. Instead of wasting your time on impeachment, why don’t you stop relitigating the 2016 loss and start at least trying to legislate for the benefit of the American people?
