CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. — Last week the Georgia State House passed a bill that would expand production for the state's current medical marijuana law that legalizes the use of low THC oil .
On Tuesday, the senate in North Carolina passed a bill that legalizes medical cannabis for 15 conditions.
Medical cannabis is legal in Alabama, Florida, and 14 other states.
21 other states have recreational pot laws.
And last week we told you how Tennessee state lawmakers shot down a bill to legalize medical marijuana this year in the Volunteer state.
On the Price of Freedom, I talked to an Army veteran and former Military Police officer who told me he supports Medical Marijuana laws to help with Post Traumatic Stress.
"I've seen abused children. I've seen suicides, murders, aggravated assault. I had one incident down in Nicaragua when I was stationed at Fort Lee. We were sent on a training mission that went really bad. And it ended up in a firefight in Nicaragua. and there was some loss of life there," George Burns told me. "All of it put together is what has given me my PTSD."
George Burns served in the Army for 18 years.
Mr. Burns served in the Vietnam era and during the Cold War.
He described some of his struggles. He says nighttime can be especially difficult because he knows the night terrors are there waiting on him.
"You know at some point in the night that little monster is going to come back and it's going to be staring you in the face and you gotta deal with it." Mr. Burns said. "My wife. There was a lot of restless sleeping. I would have nightmares of getting into situations and she would wake me up out of them. What I was doing in the dream, I was doing in the bed, flailing of arms, kicking."
Mr. Burns told me he has been through a therapy that has helped him. He also says that a lot of people with PTS could benefit from medical marijuana.
