Burned body found last month in Whitfield County identified

The Whitfield County Sheriff's Office (WCSO) says it has identified the person whose burned body was found last month in a wooded area off of Ellis Road.

WCSO spokesman Ricky Swiney says authorities have identified the victim as 26-year-old Luis Antonio Lopez of Nashville.

Lopez's family had notified authorities he was missing shortly after the body was discovered on January 10th.

Investigators say they believe Lopez may have been murdered in Tennessee, and those who killed him drove to Whitfield County in that wooded area off of Ellis Road to dispose of his body.
