Windy & colder as winter temperatures briefly return
Windy and colder conditions as wintry temperatures return for Thursday. It's a brief visit yet again as warmer air returns for the weekend.
(IMAGE GALLERY ABOVE: #1. SOME FLURRIES/LIGHT SNOW FOR HIGHER ELEVATIONS AND NORTH EARLY THURSDAY.........#2, THURSDAY AFTERNOON HIGHS IN THE 40S.........#3. FRIDAY MORNING LOWS IN THE 20S.........#4. A MILDER AFTERNOON FRIDAY IN THE 50S)
BLUSTERY & CHILLY THURSDAY
A brisk wind from the north-northwest throughout the day Thursday. Temperatures during the morning should be in the 30s, but a Wind Chill in the 20s. Temperatures should not recover much through the afternoon with temperatures only reaching the low/mid 40s (30s mountains) and a Wind Chill in the 30s.
Some flurries or patchy light snow showers could occur at higher elevations and north Thursday Morning. Not expecting any problems from this. Some accumulation at the higher peaks of the Smokies and Blue Ridge Mtns. Clouds to begin the day Thursday, then a mix of sun and clouds during the afternoon.
COLD EARLY FRIDAY, THEN MILDER
A very cold start to the day Friday as temperatures plunge into the mid/upper 20s by sunrise. Expect a partly to mostly sunny sky most of the day. The combination of the sunshine and a breeze from the south should help temperatures climb into the low/mid 50s by afternoon. These temperatures would be normal for an early February afternoon. Not quite as cold Friday Night with a partly cloudy sky and most temperatures in the 30s, but above freezing.
After a brief return of wintry temperatures, the upcoming weekend looks warm along with increasing cloud cover. Cloudy Saturday with afternoon temperatures in the lower 60s (upper 50s local mountains). Some sprinkles or light rain could develop during the afternoon and evening, but amounts look very light.
Cloudy and a little warmer Sunday with afternoon temperatures in the upper 60s. A slightly better chance for some light showers Sunday Afternoon and an even better chance Sunday Night into Monday Morning.
