A SEASONAL CHILL SATURDAY

A very cold start to the day Saturday with temperatures area wide in the 20s. The rest of Saturday looks sunny with temperatures through late afternoon in the upper 40s to near 50. A northeast breeze early, then coming in from the south during the afternoon. Clouds should rapidly move in Saturday Night. The combination of the clouds and a southerly wind should keep temperatures above freezing for most in the mid/upper 30s. Our Blue Ridge Mtn portion of the viewing area could drop below freezing through Sunday Morning.

Some patchy light rain and drizzle is possible late Saturday Night through Sunday Morning. This could fall as a wintry mix over the Blue Ridge Mtns through early Sunday, but amounts should be light,

MILDER SUNDAY

As mentioned above, a damp start Sunday with some light rain early (mix over the Blue Ridge Mtns). The remainder of the day looks cloudy and milder. Temperatures through the afternoon should reach the mid 50s. Not as cold Sunday Night with overnight lows near 40.

BETTER RAIN CHANCES MONDAY AND TUESDAY

Warmer temperatures for early next week with highs near 60 Monday, then upper 60s Tuesday. The warmth does come with a better chance for rain. Off and on showers gradually increasing in coverage Monday. Then, the coverage really picks up Monday Night and into Tuesday. Some thunderstorms are possible Tuesday ahead of a cold front late day and into Tuesday Night. We'll keep you updated should that chance include anything severe.

COLDER LATE NEXT WEEK

This roller coaster of temperatures continues as another "dip" occurs later next week. Colder air returns during the day Wednesday which ends any rain chance early in the day. A second cold front ushers in the colder air. Highs on Wednesday in the 50s. But, it gets colder Thursday as afternoon highs drop to the 40s. An increasing upper flow from the northwest could even bring some flurries across our region. Sunny Friday with highs again only in the 40s after morning lows in the 20s.

As always, you can depend on the StormTrack 9 Team for updates!
