SCATTERED SHOWERS AND STORMS SATURDAY
Short range forecast models through Saturday suggest that we could have some showers locally Saturday Morning. Then, warm and breezy into the afternoon with highs in the upper 70s to near 80. A slow moving cold front approaches late day which could bring another round of showers and storms locally from later in the afternoon and into Saturday Evening. It's this round of storms that has the possibility of being strong to severe. The map above shows the "Slight Risk" category from the Storm Prediction Center for a large part of our viewing area through Saturday Night.
Rainfall amounts will vary due to the scattered nature of the heavy showers. For example, the GFS model projects amounts exceeding 2, while the NAM and European are more in the 0.50". A wide range, but that gives you an idea of how the amounts will differ across the viewing area. We have already had over 3" of rain since Monday, so the ground is already saturated.
The risk of storms should diminish for Sunday. But, wrap around moisture should keep occasional showers at times in our local forecast through the afternoon. Otherwise, a cloudy and much cooler day with afternoon highs only in the 60s. Some of our local mountaintops may stay in the 50s throughout the day
Temperatures Sunday Night could dip to between 45 and 50!
DRIER NEXT WEEK
Most of next week looks drier compared to the wet pattern we had this week!
Partly sunny to sunny skies Monday through Wednesday. Cool mornings in the 40s and 50s Monday. then 50s Tuesday and Wednesday. Lower 70s for highs Monday, then going above 80 by Wednesday.
As always, you can depend on the StormTrack 9 Team for updates!
