Increasing temperatures & rain chances through the week

Tuesday Afternoon Temps

Another cooler than average day Tuesday, then a weather pattern with both increasing temperatures and rain chances for mid to late week.

STILL COOL TUESDAY

Tuesday still looks quite cool under a cloudy sky. Morning temperatures should be in the 40s, then reach the mid/upper 50s through the afternoon. Shower chances remain low with just a slight chance for an isolated shower or sprinkles. A few light showers are possible late Tuesday Night, but otherwise still cloudy with an overnight low holding steady in the lower 50s.

WARMER WEDNESDAY & SOME SHOWERS POSSIBLE

A southerly flow increases across the Tennessee Valley on Wednesday. This should boost afternoon temperatures to the 60s north and above 70 for the city and south. That wide range in temperature a by product of the cloud cover. Some breaks in the clouds allowing some sun for the city and south, while more cloud cover over northern sections.

Some showers are also possible late Wednesday Morning and afternoon, especially over the northern half of the viewing area.

INCREASING RAIN AND STORM CHANCES THURSDAY & THURSDAY NIGHT

An approaching cold front should keep a moist southerly flow across the Tennessee Valley which should keep temperatures warm, but also increase the coverage of rain and storms across the viewing area. That widespread chance for rain and thunder should be with us for most of the day Thursday and through Thursday Night.

The overall risk of widespread severe storms remains low at this time. As always, the StormTrack 9 Team will be monitoring this and keep you updated! Rainfall amounts vary quite a bit between longer range forecast models. For example, the US GFS Model projects around 1.50"......The US NAM Model projects close to 1.00" Thursday through early Friday.......the European Model is drier with a projected amount at just under 0.50".

Most of the rain should exit through Friday Morning and a drier pattern takes over to start the weekend.

EASTER WEEKEND OUTLOOK

Drier and just slightly cooler heading into Saturday. A cool morning in the 40s, but then sunny for the remainder of the day with afternoon highs in the mid 60s. A nice looking day for all of those egg hunts! Easter Sunday sunrise is at 7:28amET and it looks partly sunny to start the day with cool temperatures in the 40s. So, please plan on taking a heavier jacket to outdoor sunrise services. The remainder of the day Easter Sunday could have increasing cloud cover with highs in the low/mid 60s. Some showers are possible farther north over northern middle Tennessee and near the Nashville metro area. For now, dry locally, but we will be keeping an eye on this weather pattern is the weekend draws closer.

As always, you can depend on the StormTrack 9 Team!
