Frost again possible Wednesday Morning, then a late week warm up

Frosty Wednesday Morning

The average date for the last Frost in Chattanooga is April 10th. But, this year we could go just beyond that on the 11th Wednesday. And, even possible again next week.

AT LEAST THE SUN WILL BE BACK, BUT FROSTY WEDNESDAY MORNING

Days of clouds, rain and chilly temperatures have made it feel more like Winter than Spring. But, gradually, it should start to feel more like Spring in the days ahead. Sunshine should at least be back starting Tuesday. Still a bit cooler than average with afternoon highs only in the low/mid 60s (50s local mountains). A cool breeze from the north at 10-15mph through the afternoon. A clear sky and calm wind could allow for temperatures to drop into the 30s by Wednesday Morning. Upper 30s in the city, but low/mid 30s away from the city which could lead to some patchy frost. Sunshine again Wednesday with temperatures warming quite a bit through the afternoon into the mid/upper 60s.

MUCH WARMER LATE WEEK

A sunny to partly sunny sky both Thursday and Friday. The combination of the sun and a southerly breeze should allow temperatures to warm well into the 70s. Mid 70s for Thursday (60s mountains) and then upper 70s to near 80 by Friday Afternoon. That should finally feel more like Spring. But, again, as we finally warm up some cooler air could return over the upcoming weekend.

WEEKEND STORMS

The StormTrack 9 Team will be monitoring the possible of strong to severe storms Saturday Afternoon and Night. This could occur as a cold front makes its way closer to the Tennessee Valley. There are still some timing differences in longer range forecast data, The GFS Model (pictured above) favors the possibility of late day Saturday storms. The European Model (ECMWF) favors the better rain and storm chance starting Sunday. So, we will continue to fine tune the timing of this in the days ahead. So, you will want to stay "Weather Aware" as the weekend approaches.

CHILLY AGAIN

Once that cold front moves through, we could get another round of chilly air settling in. Temperatures by next Sunday afternoon could dip into the 50s as the rain tapers off. Longer range projections should the possibility of 50s for highs Monday. And, even the possibility of 30s and some frost next Monday Night through early Tuesday Morning.

As always, you can depend on the StormTrack 9 Team for updates!
