April 2017 has been full of showers, especially since last Monday. The rainfall total since last Monday at Lovell Field is 7.35" bringing the April 2017 total to 9.17". This is over 6" above average for the month. And, 7.50" more than last April!. This also brings our Spring rainfall total to 5.25" above average. And, the yearly rainfall total is now around 3.80" above average.
WARMER THROUGH WEDNESDAY
A slow, gradual clearing through late Monday Night and into Tuesday. Some dense fog could settle in during the predawn hours as temperatures cool into the low/mid 50s. After the cool start, a cloudy sky early should give way to a mix of sun and clouds. Temperatures should be warmer through the afternoon in the mid/upper 70s. A fair sky and cool again through Tuesday Night with lows back in the 50s. The combination of sunshine and a southerly wind should quickly warm afternoon temperatures into the mid 80s.
SHOWERS RETURN THURSDAY
After a couple of dry days, another cool front approaches the Tennessee Valley Thursday. This could bring a return chance for showers and even some thunderstorms during the day Thursday. Right now, the risk of anything severe looks very low. Afternoon highs should still reach near 80. Estimated rainfall amounts with this system are around 0.50".
The incoming cool front could lingering through Friday, so a slight chance for a shower then continues, but otherwise partly sunny.
WEEKEND SHOWER CHANCES
Afternoon temperatures over the weekend should again be quite warm in the 80s. But, another system could bring a chance for showers and storms Sunday Afternoon and continue into Monday.
As always, you can depend on the StormTrack 9 Team for updates!
