Drier & cooler heading into the weekend

Almanac Precip - PM Show.png

The 2 day rainfall total at Lovell Field for Wednesday and Thursday was 4.10". This is now 1.57" above average for the year. And, the February rainfall total for Chattanooga was over 9". A very warm and wet month overall which was a complete reversal from the very cold and dry January.

Friday and the upcoming weekend should be much drier, but also cooler. A sunny, but breezy day Friday with morning temperatures around 40 and afternoon highs in the mid/upper 50s. The brisk northerly breeze should make it feel even cooler. Sunshine continues for both Saturday and Sunday. However, morning lows both days should be right around the freezing mark and even some upper 20s away from the city. Afternoon temperatures should be in the upper 50s Saturday and near 60 Sunday.

The next rain chance should be Monday Evening through the first half of Tuesday. Rainfall amounts are much lighter than what we just had. The middle and end of the upcoming work week could turn much colder with afternoon highs in the lower 50s Thursday and possibly only in the mid 40s for Thursday Afternoon. Some light rain could return Wednesday and Thursday. And, some of that light rain could possibly have some snowflakes mixed in at higher elevations Thursday. We'll keep you updated on that in the days ahead.

As always, you can depend on the StormTrack 9 Team!
