Another cold weekend ahead, then even colder into next week
Temperatures should remain well below average for this time of year through the weekend. Another arctic blast of air arrives by Tuesday and could make it even colder.
BITTER WIND CHILL SATURDAY
The brisk north wind at 10-20mph could keep Wind Chill values in the single digits Saturday Morning, then in the 20s Saturday Afternoon. The day should start with clouds, then some sun into the afternoon. Aside from the Wind Chill, the air temperatures should be in the 10s and 20s early, then low/mid 30s through the afternoon valley and only upper 20s local mountains.
SUNNY & COLD SUNDAY
An even colder start Sunday as temperatures should be in the mid/upper 10s at sunrise. The rest of the day looks sunny and cold with afternoon highs in the mid/upper 30s. This should be followed by another cold night Sunday Night with lows in the upper 10s to lower 20s.
40s RETURN BRIEFLY MONDAY
The Dr Martin Luther King Holiday should have some nice weather through the afternoon. A very cold start, but skies should be partly sunny and afternoon highs in the mid/upper 40s as we get a southwesterly wind flow ahead of another cold front. This should be the "warmest" afternoon as another arctic blast arrives Tuesday.
MORE ARCTIC AIR TUESDAY & POSSIBLE SNOW SHOWERS
Another round of arctic air moves in locally during the day Tuesday as a cold front moves through. Forecast models continue to debate whether there will be enough moisture. Typically, these types of front don't have a lot of moisture. But, it doesn't take much to create some snow flakes. There is the possibility that some snow showers could occur ahead and along the front as it moves through. This could happen Tuesday Afternoon. The European Model projects an inch or two of snow showers, while the US forecast models (NAM and GFS) are drier with less than an inch. We'll keep an eye on that chance. Regardless, all models project a few more very cold days with afternoon highs just below 32 on Tuesday and only in the upper 20s for highs Wednesday. Morning lows next Wednesday and Thursday Morning could drop into the low/mid 10s.
