A mild start to December, then Winter is on the way!

Still Mild Monday

The past two Decembers have been much warmer than normal. And, the first weekend of the 2017 version should be mild as well. However, a big chill could arrive by the middle of next week and keep our temperatures below average for quite a while!

MILD FIRST WEEKEND OF DECEMBER

After some sun returns for Friday, we should have cloud cover returning for Saturday. Other than sprinkles in spots, most of us should stay dry. Saturday Afternoon temperatures should average in the upper 50s to lower 60s. By Sunday, we should have more sunshine and afternoon temperatures warming into the mid 60s. Not a bad way to start December!

One more warm day Monday with increasing clouds and afternoon highs in the mid/upper 60s.

FINALLY, SOME RAIN

Rainfall was well below average for November and we should finally receive a decent soaking Tuesday through Wednesday of next week as a cold front slowly approaches. This front could produce between 0.75" to just over an inch on average. If the front stalls, then some slightly higher amounts will be possible. The severe threat also looks low with this cold front. Most of the rain should taper off late day Wednesday, but along with falling temperatures.

WINTER IS COMING.......

Yep, brace yourselves, a big temperature drop is on the way!

Temperatures could being to drop into the 40s late day next Wednesday as the rain moves out and the colder and drier air moves in. Thursday and Friday both look dry, but quite cold as afternoon highs could only reach the low/mid 40s. Around the freezing mark Thursday Morning, then 20s for Friday Morning. The following weekend has the chill sticking around with highs remaining only in the 40s and lows in the 20s.

A mostly dry pattern through late next week and the weekend, but some upper level disturbances moving through in that strong northwesterly flow could produce some flurries or even light snow during the weekend. But, those amounts look very, very light and not problematic. It's just a sign that the first real wintry chill of the season will be settling in! We'll let you know if anything changes.

As always, you can depend on the StormTrack 9 Team for updates!
