A hot week ahead for May

Tuesday_Afternoon_Highs.png

The hottest temperature so far in 2017 is 89 which occurred on April 29th. However, that could change Tuesday as high temperatures could near the 90 degree mark.

NEAR 90 TUESDAY

As mentioned above, temperatures could be near 90 in many spots locally Tuesday Afternoon. Expect a sunny to partly sunny sky and remaining dry. With high pressure in control, temperatures should remain above average through midweek. But, the "sinking" motion of the air associated with high pressure could lead to poorer air quality. Therefore, a Code Orange air quality alert has been issued for Hamilton, Marion and Sequatchie Co through Tuesday Night. Even though it looks hot the next few afternoons, morning temperatures should still be comfortable in the upper 50s to lower 60s.

HOT & BREEZY WEDNESDAY

As high pressure moves east, an increasing breeze from the south-southwest can be expected locally. This should be most noticeable Wednesday afternoon during the peak heating of the day. Skies look partly sunny with highs again in the upper 80s to near 90. The breeze from the south-southwest could be between 10-20mph and gusty at times.

LATE WEEK AFTERNOON T-SHOWERS

We could see the return of afternoon & evening pop up t-showers on Thursday. Otherwise, a partly sunny sky and afternoon temperatures again in the upper 80s (but more humid). A better chance for scattered afternoon and evening t-showers could occur Friday afternoon and evening. Highs again in the upper 80s.

Just a slight chance for an afternoon showers Saturday, otherwise a mix of sun and clouds with highs in the mid/upper 80s.

WET SECOND HALF OF WEEKEND

Our rain chances could become more widespread on Sunday through Monday. Longer range forecast models favor the timing from late Saturday night through at least early Monday. As a result of more clouds and showers, high temperatures should be a little lower only around 80 for Sunday and again Monday.

As always, you can depend on the StormTrack 9 Team for updates!
