A chilly last weekend of January
After a couple of warm January weekends, the final weekend of the month should feel like late January!

SUNNY AND BREEZY SATURDAY
A fairly typical late January day can be expected on Saturday. A cold start in the upper 20s. Sunny through the afternoon with high temperatures in the upper 40s to near 50. The average high temperature is 51, so it should be seasonal for this time of year. It will also be breezy with increasing wind speeds from the southwest at 10-20mph.
Clouds should move back in Saturday Night with overnight lows back below freezing around 30,
The cold upper level flow from the northwest should bring a disturbance through the viewing area Sunday Afternoon and Evening. So, expect a cloudy sky Sunday and breezy with afternoon highs only in the lower 40s. Through the afternoon, a mix of light rain/sleet/snow could move in. Mainly light rain valley locations as temperatures should reach the lower 40s. That could begin mixing with sleet later into the afternoon and even some light snow. At higher elevations, mainly light sleet and light snow.
For Sunday Night, this mix should transition to mainly light snow showers off and on with temperatures overnight dropping to the lower 20s. Moisture amounts look light (around .10" or less), so resulting accumulations look very light as well. Some local mountain tops could pick up a 1/2" to 1" ( a little higher northern Plateau and Blue Ridge Mtns). Valley locations a dusting. Please be aware that roads could be slick in spots Sunday Night through Monday Morning as temperatures drop below freezing.
MILDER AGAIN INTO NEXT WEEK
Monday looks chilly with a few flurries early, otherwise breezy and cold with highs in the low 40s. Much milder by Tuesday with some sun and afternoon highs in the mid 50s. By Wednesday, mainly low 50s with more cloud cover, but only a slight chance of rain.
As always, you can depend on the StormTrack 9 Team for updates!
