Brian joined Newschannel9 in June of 2014 as host of This 'N That, bringing nearly 13 years of television and radio experience, both as a host and a certified meteorologist.
Chattanooga has been home to Brian since 2004, and was often a childhood destination while a Boy Scout or when on family travels. Originally from Columbus, MS, Brian received a BS in Meteorology from Mississippi State University, and has traveled thousands of miles throughout the Great Plains as a storm chaser, including chasing 2 hurricanes along the coast. Brian holds the Seal of Approval from the American Meteorological Society and spent the first five years of his career at KAAL-TV in Southern Minnesota as Chief Meteorologist, reporter and community representative.
When offered a chance to move back to the Southeast, he gladly accepted a position as morning show co-host and meteorologist for nearly 8 years.
Most recently, Brian served as a Public Relations Coordinator for the City of Chattanooga from 2011 to 2014, serving two mayors and several citywide departments.
Brian is very active in the community, serving as a Big Brother to his little, Aaron, with Big Brothers Big Sisters for over 7 years, and is active board member with the Cherokee Area Boy Scouts. He has also serving as both an assistant Scout Master, Venture Crew Leader, District Chairman and fundraising Chair. Brian has also served as a Live United spokesperson for United Way, worked with the Salvation Army, Habitat for Humanity, Red Cross, Rotary, Central High School, and has hosted 3 foreign exchange students.
Brian, a polio survivor, has also spoken to numerous organizations, schools, clubs and graduations about the power of being a mentor, giving back just a moment of your time, and overcoming life obstacles.
As part of his Weather in the Classroom presentation, Brian has also spoken to over 60,000 youth about weather safety in the TN Valley, and enjoys working with youth, and has also served in the children's ministry both at Christway Church, and currently with Silverdale. He is also a community reader for local schools, the United Way and Barnes and Noble.
He loves to spend time with his wife, Rebecca, his daughter Addie and their two dogs, Nox and Hallie. And when there is time, you will find him in the outdoors, kayaking, yelling at a golf ball or yelling at the TV as big SEC football fan for the "other" Bulldogs.
Catch Brian Monday-Friday on This 'N That from 12:30-1 pm, and as he occasionally fills in as meteorologist..
